San Evaristo to Agua Verde

After a nice calm night in Evaristo we upped anchor about 10 AM and headed for our next stop which was to be Los Gatos, however when we got there we decided to go somewhere new and continued for 1.5 miles to San Telmo and anchored on the North side to be shelter from the Southerly wind that we have had and is predicated. Unfortunately it is not strong enough for us to sail so we continue to rely on the motor. We anchored with Scot Free and were later joined by Sun Baby Too. Penny and I dinghied over to the beach for some exercise and some beachcombing and came home with a few small flat rocks that Penny will attack with the Dremel tool and make some jewelry. Sun Baby announced that cocktails aboard at 5:30, so we showered and dressed and dinghied over to meet the folks on Scott Free. His name is Scott and he is free of employment and his wife Monica is still working but can do so with an internet connection anywhere. We had a great time and headed back to the boat before dark and the westerly was starting to kick in. By nightfall we were seeing 15 to 20 knots of wind with gusts to 30 but there was no fetch so no waves, just wind. Made for a sleepless night listening to the wind howl in the rigging but I could just look up through my hatch and see the stars and see that they weren't moving so that means our anchor was holding. It finally turned off at 2:21 according to Penny who tracks things such as that.
Woke up to no wind and a beautiful clear warm day. We upped anchor at 9:15 and followed the coastline up as we were headed to Agua Verde, a favorite anchorage of ours. I think we stayed here 5 days last time and this is also the farthest North we have been in the Sea, so new territory lays ahead. Arrived in Agua Verde and anchor was down by noon and Sun Baby Too and Tapatai the only boats in the Easterly cove. We have been joined by Warren Peace and Matawoi and also 4 Drascome luggers with a bunch of young kids on board. They are from the NOLS or National Outdoor Leadership School. Oh to be young again and get to take advantage of that kind of stuff. We went into the village to see if it had changed much in the 2 years since we have been here and guess what, didn't see much change. The small tiendas only had some veggies and the goat cheese and were completely out of Coca Cola! I am getting low so hopefully I will be able to replenish my supply in Loreto. Also in dire need of Oreo's! or Chocolate! or Sweet stuff! My how we have to sacrifice. We are planning on staying here for 2 days and then head to Puerto Escondido where we will stay for 4 or 5 days and rent a car to see Loreto and some petyroglyphs and some good hikes. Then?
