A Day at Puerto Ballandra

We did take a 2 hour hike this morning up the arroyo and it was interesting. You can see the power of the water as it scours the land and piles up debris against the trees, all as a result of the big rains from Paul last summer. It is nice and calm in the anchorage and several boats left but then several came in so we are 8 this evening. We had cocktails with Alan and Caroline aboard Magic and looked at their collection of rocks. They had some really good ones with turquoise in them as well as some other unusual ones. All I seem to see is just an ordinary rock, must not be looking hard enough. Penny likes the bigger ones and we do have a load in the bilge destined for our yard. Tomorrow we decided that we would leave early and go to Agua Verde for the afternoon and night. Maybe stay another day depending on how crowded it is. This is the beginning of Semmana Santa and the beaches get pretty crowded. It is cool to see the people bring the whole family, including grandma and grandpa and all the cousins, aunts and uncles to the beach with barbeques and mattresses. We remember that from last year so hopefully it will be the same this year. Then we will head back to La Paz via Isla San Francisco, Ensenada Grande and onto Marina de La Paz where our slip should be waiting for us. Look forward to playing cribbage with the gang and seeing old friends.
