We had another uneventful day and night just cruising along at 7.5 to 8 knots. Had a good dinner of ground round paties grilled to perfection on the barbecue along with corn and peas. Ken choose his on greens, Bob plainwitha side salad and John with an english muffin. Mine was plain with a little blue cheese dressing to sipit into. All that was missing was Stouffers Mac and Cheese and it would have been my favorite dinner.
We decided that Brookings would be a good place to stop to see what was on our prop or shaft. With the help of our shore support team, Chris did the homework and got back with the phone numbers of the harbor department and two divers. We set the waypoint for the tiny harbor entrance and headed in cautiously as visibility was down to a couple hundred feet. Started seeing fishing boats close so took it slow and found the entrance. I decided to give the helm to Ken as he is the Captain and it looked narrow. We had called ahead to Roy the diver and he directed us to the long dock by the fuel dock across from the Coast Guard station and was waiting for us as we tied up. Into the water he went and found a large amount of kelp on both shafts and on stabilizer fin. No damage so all is well in that department. Decided to top up the fuel as it is much cheaper than California as are most places. Took on 546 gallons so we have more than enough for the rest of the trip. Did I say we were across from the Coasties? Well they sent a boat over and gave us safety inspection which we passed with flying colors.
John whipped up a bacon omelet and I toasted English muffins so a good breakfast was had by all. Showers all around and back out to sea where the fog is still there. Next stop Port Townsend to drop off Bob's cargo and then into Seattle, about 80 hours away.
Time for my late morning nap before my watch.
