Baha HaHa leg 1

The final sail arrived at 1:30 on Ewdnesday which put us 2 days late for the start. We left the dock immediately and crosse the starting line sometime after 2:00pm. Revved up the Yanmar to 2400 which produced about 7-7.5 knots and started to motor sail to chase the fleet. Pretty uneventful trip as we wanted to catch up with the fleet before they left Turtle Bay. About 46 hours later we pulled into Turtle Bay and dropped anchor as the fleet was heading to the beach party pot luck. We elected to clean up the boat, get fuel and go into town. Sally had never been to Turtle and since I spent 11 days there in 2011 I was appointed tour director. First stop was to the TelCel office to see if Greg could get his Banda Ancha recharged so we could get cellular data as we went south. Of course it was closed (I never saw it open before) so we decided to go to the Vera Cruz restaurant for a beer and chips and salsa. They had wifi so we all got our wifi iPhone fix. Met the crew of Indigo Star from Canda and had a good time listening to their trip. Then off to the market for bread and tortillas and then back to the boat for burgers on the BBQ. Next day we headed for the starting line for leg 2 with the rest of the fleet and had a rolling start for 2 hours before there was enough wind to sail. A rolling start is when you can use your motor and not go over 5 knots. The Grand Poobah, as the founder and leader of the rally is called, announces that the rolling start is over so you turn off your engine and sail. Funny how some boats knot meters are out of calibration; must be reading slow.
