It's that time of year again, the annual migration of sailors heading South in their boats. 171 boats have registered and probably settle out T about 150 with say an average of 4 persons so 600 folks fleeing the oncoming winter. I am onboard the Jeanneau Sun Odyessy 52.2, Scout, with owner Greg Himes. We have as crew Liz, from Canada who will stay in La Paz for the season, Brent and Eileen from So. Cal and myself.
The boat has been in the yard getting a new bottom and cutlass bearing and a topside buff out so we will be looking good. The fleet starts today, Monday, from San Diego at 11:00 and we hope to get in the water this afternoon and jump in front of everyone with our first stop at Turtle Bay 300 miles south. The wind looks like it will be light for this leg and maybe lighter for the next leg so we may be motoring a bit. At least I'm back on the water again.
I did the last HaHa on board Scout as well as the ash back and she is a sister ship to our Tapatai so I feel at home.
Will try to post later but will have to get internet in Turtle Bay.
