Rounding the Cape
07 November 2014 | Cabo San Lucas

My favorite time is rounding the cape at sunrise and that is exactly what is happening. We are abeam of Cabo Falso light ( which is not working) at 0611 on Friday morning. The arches should appear shortly and the sun will be rising in 30 minutes. Will be interesting to see if the Hurricane changed the arches at all. Will try to get some pictures and compare to some old ones.
The 3rd leg started with a rolling start and ended with the rolling start so no sailing as the wind never topped 10 knots and when it did it was not for long. We had a nice smooth trip down and covered the 180 miles in 24 hours. Weather is shirt sleeve warm and beautiful as always. Good to be back if only for a few days.
We will go to the Puerto Los Cabos marina in San Jose del Cabo and rent a car so we can come back for the beach party, kissing contest, and awards. Since we lost a day they are combining both the beach party and the awards presentation.
Yesterday we had a MayDay call on the radio and someone on one of the boats suffered a seizure. A doctor and paramedic responded and talked it through on the radio and the person regained consciousness and is stable. They will have an ambulance waiting when they arrive in Cabo about 10:00 this morning. When something like that happens you realize how self sufficient you need to be.
Wow we just came up to the arches and there were at least a 100 sport fishing boats idling and waiting for a shotgun start. We are right in front of them and at 7 the flare went off and they all took off in a cloud of diesel exhaust and chopped up the water. Can't imagine how many gallons of fuel just got burned!
We are going to do a drive by the harbor and anchorage before heading up to the marina. From the water Cabo doesn't look worse from the hurricane.
