The Good Life in Cartagena

Cartagena is a magical city; the old town,"Centro Historico" is a maze of narrow streets lined with balconies overflowing with colorful flowers. Shady plazas are everywhere; a cool place to sit near the fountain and watch the local life go by.
Out here in the anchorage, it's rolly as the local boat traffic zooms by; the operators have great skill in knowing how to create the largest wakes possible as they meander through the anchored boats...a common phrase on Tara Vana as one goes by is "hold onto your melons", as one time we had a cantaloupe fly across the galley.
Our haven from this chaos is the Club Nautico, where we can tie up the dinghy and meet up with other cruisers. As the pictures show, it's quite a unique place! And, all these fine amenities for just $20 USD/week!
The construction has come to an abrupt standstill as (not unusual in Cartagena) the political interests are at battle as to who really approved the plans and who has jurisdiction on the waterfront.
So, we continue to pay our money and look forward to the completion of this on-going mess.
