Labor Day Sail
04 September 2017
22 knots. SW. Gusting 24 knots.
Helena came along. She hasn't had a chance to far this season what with work etc.
Was windy and sunny. 22knots from SW. Flew just the jib and made 7+ knots on a beam reach down to the rocks and back.
Round the Rocks.
01 September 2017 | Fatal Rock
Sunny. Felt cold at 62'F. Wind NW 15.
Keel Rock to Ragged Rock to Fatal Rock (Great name for a Rock) to Dumpling Rocks and back via White Rock, Hussey Rock and Lone Rock.
Sunny and windy. Forecast was for N 7. Was more like 15. Buzzards bay tower had gusts of 19. No sea state with the wind coming off the land, but white caps and fun shifty gusts.
7 NM in just over an hour. Lots of fun.
Onset
25 August 2017 | Onset Bay Marina
Sunny. No wind.
No wind so drove the 20NM to Onset on a sunny day. Into the current at Springs of course. Had never been to Onset before. It was a great experience. Took a mooring at Brewers Onset Bay for the night.
Pretty shallow there at low water springs. Had a tad over 6' at one point but didn't hit the bottom. Certainly a place to respect the depth sounder.
We had planned to sail over to Falmouth the next day but stayed the extra night at Onset and motored the 20NM back the next day. Tried to fly the Spin on the way back but gave up after 30 minutes. Wind at the Buzzards Bay tower was zero knots gusting to 1.
Stonebridge Bar was a riot. Has a dinghy dock so we went around by dinghy. Had a couple of great steaks that were on special.
Wilbur Point

15 NM cruise around the approaches to New Bedford Harbor
in S-SW 10-15, sunny weather. Very shifty, lake like sailing.
Nice to get out after the torrential rains on Friday/Saturday morning.
Kettle Cove and Back.
11 August 2017 | Buzzards Bay, 26NM
SW 5-8 Sunny
Turned out to be a beautiful sail.
Only 5 knots at the Buzzards bay tower but more like 8 in the Bay. No sea state!
Flew the spin down to the Weepeckets and then tacked back via Kettle Cove. Niki drove most of the way. Gybed the Spin several times with no problem. Good practice.
Despite being virtually alone, Channel 16 was more entertaining than normal.
Danced with a big trawler on the way back.
Perfect.
(Who needs wind instruments)
Sunny sail most of the way to Cutty.
06 August 2017 | Buzzards Bay 13 NM
Calum, Yole and Henry came with us for lunch at the Sail Loft and a windy sail most of the way to Cutty.
Westerly ~15 knots. Sunny to start with. Overcast later.
Watched the tail end of the BBR fleet come in.
Fast, not too bumpy.
Bilge was dry despite yesterdays downpour. Cross fingers and the stanchion re-bedding has worked. Only excitement was the dreaded bung coming out in the dingy again, so we had to haul it to get 6" of water out.
