Smart Divers

13 August 2016 | South Dartmouth
Dove on the boat and cleared the prop and speedo of barnacles. We did a quick sea trial and it seems much better (no squeeling) but there is still some rudder vibration.

Incredibly hot and humid so didn't stay long. Went and visited the Beneteau people and looked at a Swift Trawler.

BBR

07 August 2016 | New Bedford
Sunnty, humid. Wind built to 20+.
Calum and Yole came for a sail.
It was BBR weekend and we watched the 420 fleets as their circle was near New Bedford.
Wind built during the day to over 20 knots, so we reefed while the racers flew kites :)
A lot of prop vibration. Made the transmission squeal again. Similar to last year when the transmission failed, which was a tad worrying. Will ask the diver to unfoul the prop.

Sail around the Bay in the sunshine.

16 July 2016 | Padenarum
No wind to start, but sunny and hot and 10-15 kt sea breeze came up from South in Afternoon
Niki and I sailed around the bay. Practiced Gybing the Spin with just the two of us.

Vineyard Cup 2016

07 July 2016 | Vineyard Haven Breakwater
Overcast, 15 knots from North, NE occasionally.
Sailing on Next Dimension with the Boss and Crew.

Andy Thwaite came for his first ever sailing experience. We sailed Azurro over on the Thursday via Quicks Hole and used her as a home base. Sailed her back via Woods (into the current!) for the full experience.

The sky was grey but we had a lot of wind and a lot of fun and sailed fast!

Had reserved a mooring north of the breakwater, which turned out not to be such a great idea when the wind came from the north. Very bumpy but the boat held up.

Continued to have issues with the tiller cable on the Torqeedo.

Breezy sail to Mattapoisett and back for the 4th. 28 NM.

03 July 2016 | Mattapoisett
Sunny, NNW 15-18 occasional gusts.
July 4th weekend. Niki and I sailed down to Mattapoisett on Saturday afternoon with 1 reef in.

Very fast reach down across the bay and back around Cormorant Rock.
Next time we should reserve a mooring as all the guest moorings were taken, though the Harbor launch (Ch 68) were very helpful and found us a ball for the night.

We stayed the night. The Tavern is now called the "Inn on Shipyard". Excellent Mexican themed food and a great acoustic guitar player.

The sail back Sunday was the mirror of Saturday. Wind built to about the same. Kept the full main up this time and raced back, sometimes over 8-9 Knots. Was a blast.

Size does not matter regatta

26 June 2016
This is our kinda race. Had a lot of fun. Ross and Erin came along and made it special.

Any race instruction that says things like "if you are over early, shame on you. Don't bother to restart we don't care. Remember this is for fun." is our kinda race.

Had a great race around the bay. We were stunningly fast - which was a big problem because we didn't know where we were going. Niki had to ask the other boats as we went by! (Wow can she trim a sail now - she was way more into it than me, though its great to be able to sail a well trimmed sail by its tell-tales)

And we met everyone at the sail-loft afterward. Sadly a couple of accidents on other boats. One wrist broken (it did get windy) and someone else had to go to the ER. Other sailors came in and we made some new friends and got some great shirts.

Wonderful.
