Porto Santo & Madeira
05 October 2008
Well, we soon settled in to life on Porto Santo. A half-hour walk into town is keeping us fit and the beach bar on the way is keeping us refreshed. We've just had a 3-night break in Madeira, catching the late evening ferry on Friday night and returning this morning (Monday). Madeira was certainly worth a visit and we're pleased we decided to let the ferry do the work as it really gave us a well-earned rest from sailing. We had a great few days, taking a cable-car ride to the top of the mountain and a sled most of the way down. This is a traditional mode of transport on the Island now used solely for tourists, with the two-person sled being steered by two men on the back - good fun but not quite fast enough to make it scary...
After a couple of days back in Porto Santo, we were ready to head out for the Canaries.....
