We Made It!
18 July 2017 | Waikiki
Matt
After nearly 14 days at sea, we finally made it to Oahu - woo hoo.
Our last night was a ride for sure. With forecast winds in the 14-17 range, we were greeted with 20+ winds all night as we approached the islands. The forecasts were generally so accurate, can't believe they got it so wrong. The entire crew was up all night as we managed the wind and the squall-like (no rain) instability in the area.
Suffice it to say, the ride thru the Molokai channel at 25+ knots was exhilarating. When we finally got within close range of Coco Head, Rob had to take it all in and snap some picts from the deck.
The best part of the day was the welcome - seeing Katy, Ginger and team as we pulled in was fantastic. And the welcome party Gail and team organized was unbelievable - thank you so much Gail - Mahalo!
More to come in terms of pictures and details of the creaks, leaks and breaks (essentially everything that happened that I wouldn't write while out at sea).
Aloha - Alicante In
