Picture: I met this lady at the market. She, her husband and two children came aboard Shuang Yu. She was intrigued with our story about sailing from America so she came to see the boat and she bought some gifts. We were touched by her kindness. We invited her and her family for coffee and a snack. They had never been on a sailboat before.
We have met so many nice people since we arrived at Wajima, like the lady and her family in the picture. A man, Yoshito, came by the boat and disappeared for a little while. When he came back, he gave us his freehand drawing of ships and flags. He also printed out two pictures of us and enlarged the two fish picture that we have on the back of our boat card.
The lady who owns a coffee shop across from the pontoon gave us some free yogurt and homemade jam after she heard that we are from the American sailboat in their harbor. We almost feel like celebrities.
