Hakodate 5
19 May 2016 | Boat position at Hakodate, Japan: 41 46.021'N; 140 42.981'E
Pam Lau and Ted Berry
Picture: By the time we left Hakodate there were four yachts in the small anchorage. The picture shows the sailors with Mizuno san at the quay the day before we left. From left in the back: Naburo Kanada san (a single-hander on "Rah 3"), Mizuno san, Ted, Jan, (in front) Bjorn, Anika and Christina. In the right hand corner are the boats: from right to left: Rah 3 (Japan), Shuang Yu (USA), Moon (Sweden) and Liv (Sweden).
After we had been in Hakodate for five days, S/V "Moon" arrived. We had not seen "Moon" since Tannowa. They left about two weeks before we did but stopped at more places. "Rah 3" arrived about nine days after us and Liv arrived the day before our departure for Kushiro. We had a farewell party aboard "Shuang Yu" two days before we left and then on the last day all of us went to the Hakodate Brew House and Restaurant for a glass beer and some snacks. It was so fun to have a community, even thought it was short and temporary. We have fun memories of Hakodate.
