We sat around today and did a few boat chores and planned our up coming few days. At around 14:00 hrs the skies started to get dark and a storm was blowing in. as foretasted there calling for around 20-25 knots of wind gusting to 30 out of the SSE. At around 16:00 hrs the light show started and we sat here in amazement. I tried to capture some of it on video. At 17:00 hrs we were having our sun downers and all of a sudden lightening hit a building directly in front of us, sparks started flying and it appeared that part of the roof blew off the building, within 2 seconds the wind was so strong that it blew our boat so far over on its Starboard side that the water was level with the port holes in panic we grab our life vests put them on then I start shutting hatches and port holes in the mean time Todd starts the engine ( we hope our ground tackle holds) For the next 10-15 minutes the wind was blowing at least 75 mph you could not see out your windows all's we could do was hope for the best and pray our anchor would hold us. After things calmed down some (still raining) we looked around a few boats dragged a few hundred feet others more. The debris floating in the water was amazing there was boat cushions, life rings, jerry cans boat fenders, etc. actually while I sit here righting this at 06;55 hrs I noticed what appeared to be a propane tank floating by, upon further inspection yes it is, waiting for it to get closer to the boat to grab it with the boat hook. I called Todd who was in bed to come help me. Once we pulled up we noticed that the BBQ was still attached as well (looked new) hopefully we can find the owners.
I tried fishing all year and never caught anything worth speaking of. And now the biggest thing I caught this year was a propane tank with the BBQ still attached.
