The Beguine
"Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails. That's what a ship needs. But what a ship is, what it really is, is freedom."

About: Not wanting to be "the one who never left", Paul finally retired from the fire department after 30 years of service, trading his Capt'n badge and position on the Truck Co. (Big Red Thunder) for a U.S.C.G. 100 Ton Master Lic., married the girl, and set sail from Southern California on his new Valiant 42. First stop, Alaska. Celeste, tired of waiting for the right cruising partner, was readying her own boat, an HC 38T, for a solo journey someday, when she met Paul, and the choice of varnish or wax cinched the deal. She said "I do" and sold her boat. Second stop, Tahiti.
