"Wherever we want to go, we'll go. That's what a ship is, you know. It's not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails. That's what a ship needs. But what a ship is, what it really is, is freedom."
Thailand
11/01/2011

We just got back from a fantastic trip to Thailand. No, we didn't take the boat - she stayed snug in a marina for this adventure. We played with elephants, toured the markets, visited a temple, witnessed the results of a terrible flood, met some wonderful people and made new friends, and of course ate amazing food. Northern Lights
09/10/2011, Hecate Strait, CAN

Last night we were treated to a 45-minute Northern Lights show. Orange, blue, and green lights danced in the darkness while a full moon played hide and seek on an almost clear night. The weather is finally lying down, so we're making a run down Hecate Strait instead of going inside.

On the road again
09/03/2011, Devilfish Bay, El Capitan Passage, AK

We're on the road again. Left Sitka on Tuesday and we are now in Devilfish Bay in El Capitan Passage waiting for some weather to pass. Paul is the master; the engine has been working great, just like new. Thanks again to all our friends in Sitka that made our stay wonderful and that gave us so much help, including that all important ear to chew on when we needed a sounding board.

We're still in Sitka waiting for some engine parts to arrive, but what a beautiful sunset we had the other night!

We've been in Sitka for the past few days doing some provisioning, sightseeing, and meeting really nice people. We took the outside passage via Cross Sound, which was amazingly beautiful (see our photos). We're leaving in a day or so to continue our southward trek.
