We're Flying!!!
28 May 2010 | 273 Miles Away!
Sally
Wow! Our noon check-in shows we made 133 miles over the last 24 hours - we've really been flying! If the wind holds (it's 23 kts right now) and we can keep up this pace, we might just make it in Sunday evening. We'll see what the next 24 hours brings us. We're heeled over quite a bit, but we're on a nice beam reach and its pretty comfortable. I even gave myself a pedicure today, although I think I have more polish on my toes than the nails, buy hey... I tried! Tomorrow I might even tackle the hair dye! :)
Glen has been keeping a close watch on the water temp and noticed an all time trip low of 47 degrees! Brrr!!! No wonder we're freezing! We're thinking it should be around 64-66 in San Diego - can anyone confirm for us? Still no fish on any of the lines - Glen has one out from a reel as well as the two hand lines still dragging off the prop shaft and rudder. He's thinking he has a shot at salmon in this cold water! Haven't seen any sea life at all except a visit from a pod of spinner dolphins a couple of days ago - they're always fun and put on quite a show. Somehow, we thought we'd be seeing whales on their migration home, but guess we're a little too late for that. We have been seeing quite a few jet contrails the last couple of days, though, so know we are getting close and heading in the right direction!
It has been so nice to hear from people who have been reading our blog. Thanks for letting us know you've shared the trip with us - makes us feel really good!
