Happy Thanksgiving and... Save the Date!

Happy Gobble, Gobble! Wow! It's amazing how quickly the cooking of our yearly turkey has come about - didn't we just pose for this same picture?!!!
With a week off to play, we left the confines of the marina (and traffic, malls, and lesson planning!) to try to remember what the cruising life is all about. How quickly it came back to us and how lovely it has been to get to sleep in beyond 5:15! :) It's hard to believe we have been home from our trip almost as long as we were gone. I think we are sometimes still in denial that we're not still out there, and are thankful we are able to get away every once in a while to remind us what the foot loose and fancy free life is like!
We started our trip with a couple of days in Mariner's Cove in Mission Bay. It is such a lovely spot and an easy 4-5 hour putt from our marina. We then headed to San Clemente Island. It has been very quiet out here - we've only seen one other boat the whole time. Very nice! We have been enjoying daily games of cribbage and gin rummy and have been getting in a lot of enjoyable reading. The weather has been nice during the day - shorts and t-shirt temps, then drops to cool enough to make snuggling up in our flannel sheets very comfy.
Our list of things to be thankful for this year is pretty easy - we are so thankful we have such great family and friends (who never make us feel guilty when we take off for the holidays!), our health is great, and we are living a very happy life. Can't ask for much more than that!
We think we have shared our 'big news" with most , but want to make sure you know to save the date of August 8, 2013 for our special event! After 20,000 miles at sea, over 5 years living aboard in confined spaces, and many wonderful adventures, we have decided we are probably compatible enough to make it legal! Invitations will go out when the date draws closer, but mark your calendars now. The fiesta will take place on a Thursday evening in Marina Village in Mission Bay. We have a great band booked and are looking forward to an awesome reception!
Oops! Tried to send this through the SSB radio like we used to when we were cruising, but couldn't get it to work! Sorry it's getting out after Thanksgiving - we just got back to the land of internet! :)
