GOOD OLD BOAT SUBMISSION

03 February 2013 | City Marina, K Dock, Fort Pierce, Florida
Thomas Lee
A few summers ago Karen Larson, editor of Good Old Boat magazine stopped by the Ontonagon Marina while touring Lake Superior on their sailboat. She was very nice, and came over to talk with Margaret on her houseboat, the River Queen VICTORIA.

I e-mailed her and asked if she would like a short article about K-Dock, the perfect place to keep a good old boat for a few months in the winter. She said, sent it.

So I put on my creative hat, and wrote a short story on why K-Dock is so special.

BIG incident on K-Dock late this afternoon. Some really stupid power boat coming into the marina went by the entrance to Moore's Creek throwing up a HUGE wake. A number of captains (including me) were sitting by the K-Dock support building and talking when the wave hit. A lady in one boat was slightly injured. One sailboat was thrown so far over that it created an oil leak, by gas probably coming out the fuel tank vent. WINDSONG was okay, except for a few things thrown on the floor. When you are living on a boat it is usually not necessary to tie everything down. It wasn't long before a officer arrived and looked over the crime scene. I think this is going to cost the stupid boater a few bucks! Sock Monkey was scared! But he's ok now.
