River crusin

Were picked up by Enterprise Rental Company to get a car in Paducah , KY to start our trip back to Pittsburgh, PA.

We made it to Grove City, OH but stopped near Cincinnati, OH to go to the Hofbrauhaus across the river in Newport, KY . to enjoy some good bratts and saurbratten and beer of course.

We are tired because it took longer to get started on our trip as planned with the delay of our car at the rental agency.

We called the Cheatham Lock this morning to confirm the message we got last night and they stated that the dam would indeed be closed for a month. We decided to go back to Pittsburgh, PA on Monday to retrieve our
truck and boat trailer and bring it down to the launch ramp just before the dam and then portage around the dam and continue on to Nashville, TN.

Went to church today at Grand Rivers Methodist Church in town at 11:00 a.m. It was sprinkling this morning so we were able to get a car from the marina. There is nothing open on Sundays so we did some laundry and then were getting ready to start our trip back to Pittsburgh tomorrow.

Grand Rivers had their Hunters Moon Festival so we enjoyed going to the parade and having turkey legs to snack on and their booths had some goodies to look at also.

We had tickets to the playhouse again tonight which was The Variety Show of song and dance which was fantastic. They have some good talent here which was a change from us watching DVD's for our entertainment in the evenings. We had shared a ride from Patti's into town with another couple from Canada which were going to the play as well so we had dinner with them at Patti's. We found out tonight that the Cheatham Lock and Dam was going to be closing on Sunday evening for a month for repairs needed after damage from a barge.

Now on Cumberland River and have decided to stay a few days. Went to Patti's 1880's Settlement for dinner and a play at the Badgett Theater and saw Smoke on the Mountain. It was a great funny play then went back to Patti's to have desert and then they gave us a ride back to the boat.

This is a small town but they have everything decorated so nicely. We are going to have to find out what else we can see tomorrow. We bought tickets today for a play tomorrow night so we are excited to see what results we have with that.

Went through the Smithland Lock and Dam which is the last dam we will be going through on the Ohio River. We are now starting on the Cumberland River and staying at Green Turtle Bay for a few days. We have traveled 50 miles today totaling 970 miles.

They have great bathrooms here and showers as well as laundry service. So that washing machine is going to work tonight!!

Had a hot shower and a early bed tonight!

We went through one lock today and traveled 112 miles. We are now at the 920 mile marker from the starting point of our travels. Diesel is $4.899 a gallon. We have gone through a total of 17 locks and are going to make the change from the Ohio River to the Cumberland River tomorrow.

Again, today we are noticing more changes in the leaves and countryside.
