It rained some this morning and most of the day was spent cleaning up the boat, soaking lines, bringing stuff off deck and storing below. Lots still to do. We ran into town and got a few things and ran into a military ceremony of some kind. Kind of neat....don't know what it was all about but who doesn't like men (oops people) in uniform?
We got the ok from Marina Seca storage to come over tonight and stage at the haulout for pulling tomorrow afternoon. Mornings at 6 feet are no bueno for pulling your boat. Wonder why that is? Ha Ha
The wind picked up really hard this afternoon and we had to wait it out so we could back out of our slip. Jim went full board on the engine so we could get over there before the sun went down.
Made it just in time! They just cleared the boat they were pulling and we could pull right in.

Hmmmm what's on the agenda today? More cleaning and organizing! Yep it never ends and we aren't even close to being done.
We went up to the office to pay for our slip (no one around Saturday). They are very nice here and they have a nice facility and a nice book exchange collection (which is ALWAYS important to us cruisers!)
The fingers here are like balance beams....they are so narrow! Must be really hazardous on dock party days!
We went to town and had some vendor food....yummy. Haven't looked up the word yet so we don't know exactly what kind of meat we had but hey it's really good. Jim jokes that it's goat tacos.
Looks like there is going to a HUGE party here at the marina. An entire truckload of speakers were unloaded and what do you want to be they're going to get aimed our direction? It'll be interesting to see how many activities we hear tonight. There's the kids carnival, then there's concerts in the plaza and now our event (we found out a wedding).
Oh yeah...the wedding has really great music but the fireworks are giving me a heart attack and Jim's ears are ringing! Jim jokes....they don't want them to have firearms but they don't mind letting them have dynamite! It's true....there are fireworks all the time everywhere we go and we don't know what they're for. Must be every event calls for fireworks. Go figure!

We arrived in Guaymas yesterday after a very nice overnight crossing from Concepcion Bay. We pulled into the Singlar marina here this morning so we can start cleaning up the boat and dismantle what we can before hauling out. We haven't heard from Marina Seca (the boatyard) yet as to if and when we can pull out (they should still have openings as of yesterday). So we're keeping our fingers crossed!
Guaymas is a very busy town with lots to see (have to do more tourist stuff next year as we don't have time now). After weeks of being in very small towns and quiet landscapes, it seems a bit like arriving during carnival.
We have lots to update you on. We made 11 stops since leaving Mazatlan! Are we fast or what! We have some good footage of whales, dolphins, rays and beautiful scenery. It would be nice if I had an editor to sort and chop all the footage! We'll update/backdate the blog for these stops when we can (maybe before we leave Mexico).

Pulled anchor around 10 and started sailing out of the bay. Supposed to be relatively calm winds and flats seas today and tonight but it's pretty windy this morning. Unfortunately we can't make any headway near land and after sailling for a few hours, we decide to motor up and get out in the middle and then get back to sailing.

Another day for the jib to come down! What is with the crossing going east? I'm going to start thinking the east bound trips are jinxed. But at least it was during the day AND we had just one more line left to replace the halyard with, without having to go up the mast. We're very happy about not going up the mast in general but definitely NOT at sea!
We have very little moon tonight for our crossing but the luminessence is just so pretty. We have a beautiful trail behind us as well as wake from the bow. Lucky us! A dolphin came during the night and jumped up a couple of times and then swam under the bow for a while. I had to wake Jim to see it. So pretty with all the glow!

We followed a tanker into Guaymas as the port captain did not answer any of our hails on VHF. We toured around to see the south anchorage near where Marina Seca storage should be and then decided to do the anchorage near to town. This place is shallow.....anywhere from 8 to 12 feet. We're getting used to that spooky feeling.
There's only one other boat anchored over here near the navy dock and he's pulling out and getting a slip at the nearby Singlar Marina. We're going to stay out here for tonight and go in to town to check things out this afternoon.
We stopped by the marina office to check for availability (which there was) and walked into town to get a few things then headed back to the boat.

Margaret and Julius of Zeeba stopped by this morning to exchange books with us. We were glad they did because they said that Marina Seca in Guaymas still had spots in storage as of a few days ago. It's the cheapest storage around so we're really glad to hear that.
A couple on another dinghy stopped by and asked about the hot springs. We told them we hadn't found them yet. They are camping over in Santispac. We'll stop by to see them when we go over to the restaurant.
We went ashore to find the hot springs! We could really use a soak. Well we did find them (with the help of a local paddling by). They said the hurricanes really wiped out there pools and they have to redo them. So unfortunately the soak is just for our feet! A local yelled down from her house that it was 172 degrees at the source so be careful! And do the shuffle because they have sting rays, though we did not see one ray. The fish are close by watching you from under the grass and if you're still enough they come pretty darn close. I wonder where they hide once all the grass dies out? The warm water from the hot springs makes it very tropical for them.
Outboard is not working great. Took over a dozen starts to get us across to the other side. Good thing it's the end of the season. We walk over and discover that Anna's is closed on Wednesdays! Of course it is! And the campers (Steve and Barbara from California) aren't at their site. So we walk along the beach and talk to a few of the other campers. Jim found someone to sell him a pack of smokes (lucky guy) and then we bought a Tshirt for Jim from one of the vendors who works from vehicles.
After strolling the beaches we saw Steve and Barbara were back so we stopped and had a few drinks with them and chatted. Steve gave Jim an idea about the outboard so hopefully that will be the problem (need a new part). And we told them where to find the hot springs though they aren't much right now.
We made it back after a few pulls on the outboard (thank god the wind was with us on the way back).

Jim pulled down the jib so we could work on it this morning. The sail cover thread is coming apart in places so we have to sew it back together. We saw a couple of dinghies come over to "our" beach and then go snorkeling. It looked like they were collecting stuff so Jim sent me over to do some recon and find out what they're gathering and how it is cooked.
It turns out that Sea Biscuit and KatieHill are both fairly new to cruising and aren't sure about lots of the clams either but offered up some of the chocolate clams and told me what to do with them. They seemed very nice and we hope we can meet up with them again next season.
I brought back the booty to Jim and after he cut himself trying to open the clams, I boiled them and then fried them up with butter. They look kind of gross (orange and black and clammy) but they tasted pretty good. We'll have to try getting more next season (have to be very careful as you are not supposed to get clams or scallops or shellfish of any kind).
