Living the Dream
Got Strawberries?
06/17/2012

The last thing you want to do the day after a big party is get up early, but I did so my sisters-in-law and I could go pick strawberries. And boy did we pick! It took us about 3 hours but we picked 78 pounds of strawberries between the three of us. Can you say dead tired and sore?

And my 23 pounds turned into 41 cups of halved strawberries. We be jammin'! I wanna jammin' with you LOL (come on, add that rasta beat!)

Just having a bit of fun at our Fathers' Day BBQ! Lots of food (our refrigerator is bursting) and fun (pro golf is no where near as fun) and conversation (by god we can talk). Happy Father's Day to all of you out there!

I was walking around the property with my niece before our Fathers' Day BBQ and we spotted this bug. How cool is that? Comes with its own margarita glass!

Erie Canal still working
06/04/2012

We were passing by the Erie Canal in Little Falls and saw this working barge going through. It's nice to see that the canal is still being used after all this time, we just wish it was more commerce as well as the transient boaters.

Here's just a brief history for you guys on the Erie Canal. Construction started in 1817 and completed in 1825 - 4 feet deep and 40 feet wide with 83 locks connecting the Hudson River to Lake Erie, an increase in elevation of 568 feet.

She's seen some updating with the latest stint from 1903 to 1918 where it was widened to 120-200 feet and deepened to 12-14 feet and the locks reduced to 57. The Canal runs 363 miles from Albany to Buffalo.

Some day we'll get the kayaks on her and paddle between locks. should be lots of fun!

Playing around
05/08/2012

I was playing around with the camera and took advantage of the dandelion field that is our lawn before we had to mow it again. Pretty huh?

Does a cow sell gas better?
