The Washington Swamp Drainage and Expertise.

Jonathan Cross hit on the point that, without the expertise of the bicoastal elites, you cannot get people to run our government who know what the hell they are doing. Hence a Goldman partner is being floated for Treasury Secretary. No surprise. No surprise either that Joe, the Plumber is not on the short list.

The issue is less their backgrounds and more, given their expertise, can they be controlled and managed toward useful ends in the public's interest. Trump does have the negotiational skills and force of personality to do that if his basic instincts are good. He saw through Bannon's considerable luggage to understand his considerable strategic skills, so perhaps there is some hope in these quarters.

Good control and use of these experts is the issue, not the fact they are elites and not Joe the plumber. It is naive to expect much else. We will just have to see if Trump has good enough instincts to pull it off. Obama did not. Recall Obama at the beginning of his first term, I think it was, saying he was going to do something about lobbying and lobbyists? Little or nothing came of it. Trump is alreading taking steps. If his instincts are as good elsewhere, perhaps prospects are not as dark as many make them out to be.

We will have to wait and see.

About:
Kimball Corson: I am a 75 year old solo sailor, by choice. However, I did take on a personable, but high maintenance female kitten, now a full grown cat, named KiKiPoo when she is sweet, or KatKatPo after she has just killed something like a bird or bat. [...]
Extra:
Although I was a lawyer and practiced law with good success for thirty years, creating significant new law, I never really believed in the law, the politics of law or in the over reaching self-interest of most lawyers I met. Too much exposure to Nietzsche and other good and seriously thoughtful [...]
