Ginger Bread + Presidents, Aspirants and Our Bill of Rights

Presidents, Aspirants and Our Bill of Rights

Presidents and candidates these days are too willing to damage our Bill of Rights, in one way or another. Bush seriously compromised our Fourth Amendment rights of no searches without warrants. Obama, with his Homeland Security, has little regard for our First Amendment rights of assembly and free speech, and he is not too keen on our Second Amendment right to bear arms either. In fact, in some instances, American citizens could loose most of their rights under the Bill of Rights thanks to the good Mr. Obama and the Defense Authorization Act of 2012.

Obama has been bad news for the protection of our rights under the Bill of Rights. All because we are so terrorized, of course. Those who shake in their boots like cowards, would have too many of us in jail because we don't agree with them on something or another. Being terrorized is what we want to make of it. I mean the twin towers did collapse by accident, contrary to everyone expectations, including bin Laden's. If they had not collapsed, would we have invaded Iraq and now be such terrified ninnies, equally ready to inflict such damage on ourselves? I don't think so.

Now along comes Rick Santorum -- who seeks the Presidency -- and up front he declares that the separation of church and state, also a part of the First Amendment, 'makes him want to throw up.' That is how he said he felt when he heard President John Kennedy in 1960 declare his commitment to the separation of church and state under the establishment clause of the First Amendment. See, Rick would like a theocracy to force his religious views on the rest of us. Who says religion is not dangerous to those of us who don't hear voices from the ethers.

Romney and his Mormonism do not bother me half so much. You see, the Mormons know how to compartmentalize their religion. They have to because their religion is so bizarre and zany. Whereas, Santorum is more integrated in his views and separates little from his religion. I cannot see Romney being told by God to invade a country, like Bush said he was told by God to invade Iraq, but I can certainly see Santorum being told by God to invade Iran, for example. Loons need to be kept out of public office.

About:
Kimball Corson: I am a 75 year old solo sailor, by choice. However, I did take on a personable, but high maintenance female kitten, now a full grown cat, named KiKiPoo when she is sweet, or KatKatPo after she has just killed something like a bird or bat. [...]
Extra:
Although I was a lawyer and practiced law with good success for thirty years, creating significant new law, I never really believed in the law, the politics of law or in the over reaching self-interest of most lawyers I met. Too much exposure to Nietzsche and other good and seriously thoughtful [...]
