What a day! Summer certainly has arrived in the north. Threshold is sailing along slowly under full sail headed straight north. The sky is half full of puffy, round, white clouds that never seem to get in the way of the sun. Strangely, the grey, flat cloud bottoms seem closer to the water than they should. There is no one else here. There has not been a ship, fishing boat, oil rig, or airplane in sight all day. It is just Karyn and I and the wild life. Last evening there were some easily identifiable Orcas a long way off surfacing to show their distinctive long, black dorsal fin. Just a short while ago an unidentified, huge monster leaped twice from the water 300-400 yards behind the boat. We also have a squadron of Northern Fulmars gliding among the swells and wheeling up into the air to turn down the next swell. I am constantly amused watching them put on their airshow flybys down the side of the ship or across the transom. They do it so effortlessly. Occasionally a Black Footed Kitty Wake will show up but they are not as social and curious as the Fulmars. We are just here navigating, trimming sails, resting, reading, repairing, and of course watching for more whales..
