77 45.0'N:14 35.0'E Long day today. Our anchor was up at a reasonable time and we didn't finish our cold cereal breakfast until we were underway. It was going to be over a 50 mile day to Bellsund and the anchorage at Fridtjovhamna. We actually got to sail for almost two hours. The other seven hours had the Yanmar working its magic, performing like a trouper. Nice sunny day but an uninspiring coast as Svalbard goes. I was ready to have the anchor down, relax and barbeque the Portuguese steaks Karyn retrieved from the freezer. First attempt at setting the anchor resulted in us dragging it through what turned out to be very sticky mud. Second attempt, from a now very dirty deck, was attempted by letting the anchor settle into the mud while we had dinner. Just before sitting down I let out another 20' of chain quickly.
