Wind in the boat yard has delayed for several days. The boat yard has its own micro climate when the wind is out of the east and funnels down three separate inland glens. A moderate Force 5 will accelerate to Force 8 and higher gusts as it rolls off the hills making walking on the deck dangerous. Needless to say stepping masts and launching boats came to a halt. The workers at Fairlie Quay Marina are certainly doing their best as they are working seven days a week during these busy months. Very unusual.
This has been a big year for improving and refitting Threshold. Besides overhauling the mast and rigging she has received new batteries (a BIG job) and new sails are ready to be fitted. The bottom paint is on. All the underwater parts are serviced. The rig is ready to be stepped and we are ready to launch. We now have to wait for several boats that are in our way to be launched or moved.
Within a couple of days, certainly by the end of the week we will be out of our cozy, Scottish apartment that Olive and Russ have lent us. It is exciting to think we will be back at home aboard soon. This is the longest time (almost 6 months) we have spent off Threshold since she was launched nearly 7 years ago.
