Sleeping in a Bouncy House - Shaken not Stirred
24 July 2012 | 986 miles to go!
Ken
Sleeping on a boat under sail is a lot like sleeping in a Bouncy House. When the wind is light and the waves are small it is a lot like sleeping in a Bouncy House with a small child jumping up and down. After a few minutes the gentle rocking puts you to sleep. When the wind is blowing in the 20 knot range and the waves are big like they have been the past few nights, it is like sleeping in a Bouncy House with 4 grown kids jumping up and down with all their force in a circle around you. You are rocking and rolling in all directions, you are tossed and turned, jolted and bounced and generally shaken like a Martini during the entire time you are "sleeping". Eventually you do fall asleep, you really don't have an option, you either sleep or you go 13 days without sleeping. I personally just woke up from a delightful 2 hour nap and I feel absolutely refreshed.
Did I mention we passed the half way point at 9:01 AM this morning (Tuesday), now we are like a horse heading back towards the barn, look out Hawaii, here we come.............
