Last 18-24 hours

25 July 2012 | On our way
Kim
Well, a lot has happened in the last 18-24 hours, I can tell because I don't really feel like doing much of anything besides blobbing, so now blogging before on shift! You can't procrastinate anything out here but I can wait until the last minute. We had a great half-way party - appetizer of fruit cups, dinner, a special cocktail (aka Ginger Ale) with our famous ice cream; opened presents - thanks everyone, then were on our speed run. Our 5S spinnaker, the same one that we cleaned the bottom of the boat with in 2010, had a rip at the seam where it was repaired (I'll deal with that one when we get home). It seemed to be doing fine with just a small tear and then one "pop" and it was in half...same spot - UGH! Luckily Brad was driving and attempted to leap to the bow, except he was tethered in :) so then unclipped and then leapt. I on the other hand was tethered into the cockpit, leaped over to grab the wheel and was tethered in tightly there. Thankfully Alyssa was able to find her way between all the legs, bodies and feet to release me and reconnect me! We then put up the 4S with a little excitement, but the crew is great at communicating and getting it all together. Brad may have a story or two about getting a saltwater douche up on the bow (LOL) while saving his sandal. (Don't worry we are all safe and secure, literally!) Ken said that Hawaii doesn't like the 5S because it doesn't have a Tiki Head on it. I'm starting to think the same thing. So now back to our daily routine. I know there is more that has gone one, but now have managed to use up all my time. Better get out and do my duties! Kim
