On the home stretch

27 July 2012 | Less than 475 miles
Kim
Another night over, feeling the countdown from here. We are tracking to our +200 mile mark for the last 24 hour period so that should lift some spirits (even tho' we all agreed for the "slow sail" Wednesday, I think we were all bummed about the lack of progress we made and the progress others made on us for that). So here we are, Friday morning. We had a great sunset last night and hopefully will have a nice sunrise this morning - although that is unlikely just due to the cloud layer on the eastern horizon. Brad and I experienced a pretty big squall line to our right, but thankfully those don't get us; just a small one from the left. I'm thankful we have radar to view these things, although we don't change much, just anticipate. Scott woke up, and we all 3 saw what we think was lightening in the distance - a huge flash of light that lit up the entire sky. Pretty wild as we have never seen that before. Seems like we are always looking for spectra loops to connect snap shackles onto the toe rail. I found two and wearing as "accessories" (e.g. anklets) so that I always know where they are! It came up on Children's Hour as part of the "you know your an ocean racer when...." I don't think Michael got it (and/or thought it was funny) as anklets, bracelets and hairbands aren't probably common on Valis! That's all for now...gonna get my morning nap in before my special breakfast Alyssa makes me cuz I'm the only one still asleep when she makes it for the others. Kim
