Last Day
22 July 2016 | 26 27'N:150 32'W,
Kim
All I have to say is this is the least amount of in depth blogging on a Pac Cup yet - a pretty brutal and fast trip. Thank goodness Brad was "online" as well so there hopefully was some other perspective with what was going on aboard TikiJ. My sincere apologies for our non-sailor friends as we usually explain a bit more about some of our enryptic code words or jokes, so hopefully there are some comments that will be fun to read for us later.
We have a very busy day ahead. Usually the last 100 miles has a lot of things to do. From checking in at 100, 25 and 5 miles to continue to sail our course, to getting the flags put bag on the stern, to ensuring we are still eating and resting, to getting sails down and motor on right at the finish line so as not to hit the reefs, to navigating the Sanpan Channel, to trying to look presentable with our Tiki J crew shirts on for photo op, etc. Whew!
All I can say right now is how thankful I am that we are this far to Hawaii with the storms (Darby and 2 others!?!) tracking right at the islands. My heart and gut go out to those boats who won't make it into safe harbor by Saturday night. We will be keeping them in our thoughts and prayers as the seas are getting wilder from multiple directions. Until we get TikiJ tied up, inspected and mai-tais, I will sign off temporarily. Thanks, Kim
