6 Degrees of Separation
15 March 2016 | An early morning visitor
6 degrees? More like 30. That's last nights record for side to side rolling.
If the swell is running and the tide turns, rather, when the tide turns the bmoat lies across fre swell and the rolling begins. At first, up to 5 degrees either way it's "ooh this is nice". Not much longer and you're hanging on, piling up pillows around you and trying lying at various angles to minimise the effect.
In the absence of anything to do at 3 am I remembered my phone had a spirit level so, now we know. 16 one way followed by 14 the other was the record.
Of course, not only couldn't I get to sleep because of the rolling but every big one I had to grab my phone and see if it would be a new record!
After a dodgy nights sleep it's difficult to get starts in the mining before the euatorial Suns fers up to strength.
I usually kick off just after 7 sanding and varnishing but by 10 it's way too hot.
The locals here have an interesting anti sun fashion. They all wear Buffs covering their neck, face and under their caps. How they don't suffocate is beyond me. It's also a bit worrying as relatively my anti sun measures are minimal.
The other more disconcerting fashion is the guys, usually the chubby ones, roll up their T shirts exposing their beer investments and looking like they're wearing their missus baggy bra. However, it's better than the Jamaicans and their gangsta baggy jeans with the crotch dragging on the road.
