Well it's day two of sailing up here on Francois Lake. We are taking Nana out for a trip up the lake to the west. My goal is to make it to the bend in the lake at 54 01.35 N 125 20.77 W. Would love to get a look down the lake at the next leg.
With the crew and passenger loaded and ready swung the boat around at the dock and hoisted the main. Under the power of the main we departed from the dock and by the time we were out of the bay the crew had the jib up and we were on line for a good long run toward the south west shore. It was very nice to be able to sail off the dock as easily as we sailed on to it last night and the winds so far are holding so we should be able to make my goal.
As luck would have it the weather was beautiful, unfortunately too beautiful. By the time we were halfway between Birch Bay (54 00.82 N 125 17.36 W) and my goal 54 01.35 N 125 20.77 W the wind died down dramatically and Yvonne decided it was time to head back. With one last longing look at the bend and an unachieved goal. We sung around and beat beat a slow path back to 1 Cabin Bay (54 00.33 N 125 16.03 W) and achieved another successful sail to dock.
The crew is really enjoying this sail on and off of dock part, from my perspective they are also getting better at sheet control and knowing when to douse the sails.
