A trip around the Island

02 July 2009 | 54 00.33 N 125 16.03 W
Chad / Clear with light easterly
Yvonne and Kyle want to go out for a sail and see if we can meet up with the 26 Macgregor that passed by again. on the far south shore. We had a good set and sailed off the dock into a light breeze and headed across the lake in a south east heading.

The water has a little chop to it but not much, just a relaxing bob as we make our way to the south side and turn east following the 26 at a distance but gaining. I am guessing they are heading to the cove behind the Island (53 59.02 N 125 13.22 W). It would make the ideal anchorage in the area and we have seen her there earlier on the hook.

The island is quite a nice and sizable piece of land. The existing abandoned cabin would have to be torn down and rebuilt. But the location holds a lot of potential if it wasn't so far away from home and the water so absolutely cold. Couple that with the outrageous price they want for it and it makes it easy to see why it is still unsold and in the condition it is in.

Well it looks like the 26 wants to remain to itself. We caught up to within a 100 yards of her before she swung in to the cove and dropped hook. We'll leave them to their solitude and head back out onto the main lake body through the passage between the islands. It's looking like we should get a good run back to One Cabin Bay. One thing nice about the lake at least in this area is it is certainly not overly busy with power boats. Every quite and relaxed place to sail other then the excitement of a good wind now and then to play in.

We the trip back was indeed a fun one. We were able to run almost all the way to the bay on one jib. As we neared the approach from to One Cabin Bay from the south shore we got some good gusts and played a little on the crossing before sailing right up to dock again. The crew worked admirably on the trip and with the docking and stowing of the gear. I think they are all really starting to get into this sail on and off the dock thing. I know I am certainly enjoying it.
