Where do I start? It's been Go, Go, Go ever since we've arrived in Dragor and only yesterday did Tivoli leave her slip! I have been having the hardest time writing this entry, (Like it's taking me days) mostly because both Torben and I have been trying to sort out our feelings of being here.
The welcome from family and friends has been overwhelming only in a positive way. It's hard for me to explain the feeling when Berit, (Torben's sister) shows up to the boat on her bike to deliver her home baked cake to go with our evening coffee. Something only a sister would think of doing. Or having coffee with the Nelleman's who was the neighbor of Torben's parents. Or being included in Benedikte's 18th birthday party. ( Sanne and Mogens daughter), or shopping and having lunch in downtown Copenhagen with just the girls, plus racing a Wednesday night race in Kalundborg with cousin Niels and his wife Yrsa and being treated to lunch in a real Danish castle, Dragsholm which dates back to the 15th century! We are slowly infiltrating into our family and friends social calendars and it feels very nice.
Tivoli is sliding into her old routine of hosting dinners that include sleepovers, sometimes planed, sometimes not. It's just like being home. She has been shown a great deal of respect from sailors and tourist who come to see the American flagged boat with a Danish name. Jaws drop when they see she has come all the way from California.
The one most intriguing discovery of being back is the number of people who knew Torben's Dad. There have been several people, whom we just met for the first time that knew Sigurd Bentsen. It almost seems that he was a legend at the harbor, "Oh yea Sigurd, he............and the story would go on. How wonderful for Torben to know his Dad has not be forgotten.
I think I'll end this blog entry here. We have left Dragor but only for a week or so. Gale force winds have forced us to stick close to home. Tomorrow we will put Tivoli right downtown Copenhagen. We'll take out our newly purchased collapsible bikes and play Tourist for a few days. Maybe even go to Tivoli Gardens!
