Picture is Wilson the Buffalo. We came upon him this morning while walking. We actually had to get out of his way so he could pass by with his friend close behind. This guy is quite the celebrity out here and often visits the middle of the Isthmus for attention from tourists.
We are now on a nice mooring in Cherry Cove with nothing else to do but learn to make bread. This may not seem like much fun to most people, but I've never made bread in my life and find it extremely interesting. We are using a recipe that uses a Dutch Oven to generate fast heat inside the propane oven. It is said that getting heat to the core of the loaf fast is the key to making good bread aboard a boat.

Only real issue to date has been the generator cooling pump eating an impeller after only 40 hours of operation since the new pump was installed. Problem was fixed and all is good again. Watermaking is going well, however we seem to be falling behind.
We plan to sail or motor back up to Isthmis for Buc days and Lobster Season opening. We will head up tomorrow and probably take a mooring.
In the meantime, we got this from our friends on S/V Beach House from Fakarava Atoll...swiming with sharks:

09/17/2009, Whites Landing Double Hooked
Wow! What an excellent anchorage. I now fully understand why John Wayne considered this his favorite spot at Catalina. We are double hooked about 30 feet from shore with clear blue water and white sand bottom. Last night was like anchoring on a lake. What a break from Isthmus where we would get rocked ever 30 minutes by a shoreboat.
We don't have any cell phone reception here and therefore no high speed internet, so we will have to wait to post pictures. Today we will be cleaning the boat and diving...it is rough, but someone must do it!
Cheers for now.

09/16/2009, Long Point Catalina moving South for diving
We finally hauled anchor today and headed to Long Point for some diving. The winds have abated and the sun is out warming things up.
We had Ron and Cheryl M/V Lazy Days over for a wonderful dinner last night. We talked for hours about Mexico and the great places to stop and visit along the way. Lori also made Peach Cobbler from scratch which was an especially nice end to the evening.
Tuesday we made about 100 gallons of fresh water and then an hour later it was dumped into the bilge as a result of a bad hose fitting! Man was I pissed...nothing worse than watching your bilge pump suck 4 hours of effort overboard. Another lesson learned I guess.
