Is it really November...Already???

It's HERE! Indian Summer in Port Clyde! The month of October has come and gone and the weather was beautiful, for the most part. While there were a few rainy, gloomy even frigid days, there were more sunny, crisp and beautiful days. The leaves started turning the 1st week of October and JoAnne and Jerry came to help with the roof rafters, "Tyvek-ing" the house and some trim painting. The fall foliage was breathtaking and lasted almost all month with different trees and bushes turning their leaves on what seemed to be an endless rotating myriad of colors. The addition is coming along nicely. The roof is now shingled, the trim all painted and in place. The really good news is...it DOESN'T LEAK! Rob is currently installing the chimney for the wood burning stove in the new kitchen and the electricians have completed their rough wiring of outlets and lighting. Jan is working on wall insulation and screening of the roof overhangs. We've had many delays in getting the delivery of our windows and doors but are confident that this Friday will be our "lucky" day Friday the 13th of November! Living on an island we are dependent on transportation over the water and the "Reliance" transport has had some mechanical difficulties as well as not "high enough" high tides and now shortness of daylight hours with those high tides. We are all but weather tight with the doors and the windows being the last hurdle. As for our sleeping Triple Stars. She is "on the hard" at Ocean Pursuit Boatyard in Rockland and was their last boat hauled from the chilly waters of the Atlantic. We now have her sails down, canvas stowed. the watermaker pickled and walls washed with vinegar and water (for mildew). Only a few more chores to get her ready for her 1st ever snowy, icy otherwise COLD 6 month hibernation. I think we ALL look forward to somewhere a bit further south this time next year. Be sure to check out our photo gallery, we'd like to share with you our little part of paradise (in the northeast).
