Our sheet rock is all but done!

It's almost Christmas and amidst 28-30 degree weather outside, our cherished propane heater is working overtime! Dana and Rob put in a full 8 hour day in on Monday to get 90% of the drywall hung. Working after dark with a work light shining they got all but a few of the smaller pieces and the mud room done. Rob was able to finish up the remaining pieces and all of the anchoring of the sheets a couple of days later. What a difference the rooms look now! From the construction site look to an actual house and room look we can really visualize the island home this soon will be! Tuesday, at high tide, 2pm, Rob felt it was now or never to get our skiff off the shore of the mainland and get her back home. While the winds were a bit calmer (only 10mph but still out of the North) but no white caps and the sun was shining brightly we headed over. Rob appraised the situation and figured the 2 of us could ease the boat down the shore and get her launched. After "bailing" out the snow it only took about 10 minutes to get her launched and Rob took her to the port to pick me up after I drove the truck back. Of course before we could get back to the island, the clouds from the approaching front swallowed up the sunshine, the winds were beginning to pick back up and I think the temps dropped at least 5 degrees! But the story ends well and we thawed out after only a few minutes in the warm house (and a hot shower)! Ta Dah! Now we can really sit back and enjoy the holiday, our boat is back, the dry wall is hung with care and our wish for a White Christmas seems to be coming true. It wasn't possible again, this year to be with our daughter, Kristen, but know she is happy, healthy and pursuing her dream of being an employed fire fighter. We also remember our last couple of Christmases with our cruising family, Terri & Lyman, aboard sans cles. Gosh we miss them as well as they celebrate the holidays in the Virgin Islands! Here's to a reunion our 2010!
