01/11/2008, Altata, Mexico
After having a fun 15 days at Marina Mazatlan, it was time to see some more of what Mexico has to offer. a beautiful little anchorage 100 miles north of Mazatlan is Altata. We arrived here on Jan 5th and today, the 11th, we still love the place. The people are very friendly, we have a 5 minute dinghy ride to the beach, where there are many mom & pop palapas and restaurants to have a cold beer or fresh tacos. We can purchase fresh jumbo shrimp from direct from the little shrimping boats for 60 pesos/kilo!!! They taste almost like lobster..YUMMMM We have done alot of exploring, watching bread made right in wood burning brick ovens at family homes, being serenaded 4 piece mariachi band, great camaron (shrimp) tacos, watched the fisherman as they work their sails and nets and have explored the streets of Altata and Culiacan with our friends Bill and Lisa. The weather has been in the 60's and 70's, a little chillier at night with calm waters and light sea breezes. We plan to stay here another 5 or 6 days, as it's a quiet, friendly place to be. The mexican tourists will return over the weekend, coming from Culiacan to play at the beach so we will stay thru the weekend, then back to Mazatlan to await a visit from Kristen and to experience "Carnaval", Mazatlan style!!

11/08/2007, At Sea heading to Cabo
WELL..it's 6am and time for our final position reading. We try to sail for awhile the final morning, but by 11am we put on the motor and crossed the finish line at 1:36pm!!!! We didn't get to the actual anchorage until 2pm and it took another 90 minutes to find a spot to anchor. Slips were going for $140.00/night! Our anchorage was great 23 53.N 109 54.W in sand and besides the jet skiis and banana boat it was a pleasant anchorage. What an accomplishment! Never thought we would ever get out of Sausalito! The next 4 days we enjoyed Cabo, the activities, the food and the sweet feeling of success! WE MADE IT! With help from our friends, Gill and Richard.

11/05/2007, Bahia Santa Maria
TWO down and one more to go. All is going well. Nothing breaking or malfunctioning! We crossed the finish line at 4:40am. Jan got up for the occasion then went back to bed! We arrived at Bahia Santa Maria at 6:50am. We were all up for anchoring, then took another snooze. There was a "Captain's meeting" at Profegate where they all tasted Pusser's Rum! Richard & Manfred took a long hike up the mountain, while we stayed aboard enjoying the beautiful weather. The next day (11.6) we enjoyed dinner on the beach and took a panga in due to the big surf. Gil, Rob & Jan left the shore about 4:00 and by 6pm those who were not off shore stayed the night...70 people, including Richard spent the night, sleeping on the floor, on the ground, in chairs, anywhere they could. It was a bit chilly and by 6:30am Richard caught the 1st panga off the island and got back to Triple Stars. We departed on time...7:30am for the final leg to Cabo San Lucas
