Day 4 Passage

It is 7:00am and I'm actually awake and doing something productive! We have just completed 3 days and nights of a 4 day passage, so you'll understand if I get alittle scattered or misspell the simple words!!! Anyway, the Tehuantepec crossing was a smooth, safe and successful one. With the weather technology and forecasting these days, it is said that a T-pecker can be predicted (with a little warning) if you pay attention and that May is the BEST month of the year to cross. The 1st day was a great sailing day...the second was more motoring than we hoped and the 3rd day we all went out in search of wind to sail. I believe Jim & Kay (Grace) tacked back and forth several times and went at least 30 miles further out than the rest of us and still ended up within 5 miles (behind) the rest of us at the end of the day! Sans Cles sailed longer than any of us and well... we are in the lead by only 3 miles!!!! Our days have been pretty hot and humid with the cabin temperature almost at 100 and the humidity around 80%. The marine life consists of dolphins getting their exercise challenging us to a race, sea turtles that haven't a care in the world, except for the one we hit and probably has a headache and the Boobie birds that fight for a spot on our bow sprint for a floating rest stop. The night skies have been filled with only stars directly above us and heat lightening all around us! I must admit it's a cool sight but not a comforting experience, knowing what lightening can do to marine electronics!!!! Rob has figured that we will reach our way point of entrance to Bahia de Sol about 8am Sunday morning, based on our current average speed of 5+ knots. This should be perfect since high tide is at 9am and we should be meeting the panga pilot who will guide us across a migrating sand bar to enter the estuary for our next anchorage. So stay tuned for the next blog to be sure we are not sitting on that sand bar!
