Ahhhh...back to Paradise in Barillas

Well.... It seems as all of that hard work was well worth it in the long run! We arrived back to El Salvador on Wednesday morning, pretty tired but anxiously awaiting our friends Terri & Lyman flight, so we could just pick right up where we left! After another gratefully, UNEVENTFUL experience thru customs our turn to wait for several hours in the airport...catching up on some nap time we boarded the van @ 2:30 and headed "HOME". The air was humid the temp was a sunny 95 degrees. The van ride was pleasant until the final 8-10 miles over what was now nothing short of dry river bed full of washed out pot holes and under-carriage ripping rocks... It took us more than 30 minutes to get thru it! A 4 wheel drive landrover would have been better suited than a Mitsubishi mini van! Our minds would rest easier as soon as we opened the hatch and thankfully we found just a rush of hot, stuffy air, with NO evidence of bugs or growing science experiment. We quickly opened up every porthole and hatch, threw in 8 pieces of baggage into the main cabin and launched the dinghy to head for dinner! Our next 3 days were spent cleaning, rearranging, finding places for all "the stuff" we brought back with us, sweating and of course catching up on our afternoon siestas! We've only had 1 night of rain & thunder since returning, so that is a very good thing. Perhaps end of July and August will bring us a little hiatus from the rain. We are now looking forward to Tuesday, as we have arranged for our inland tour of the Mayan Ruins in Copan, Honduras. Our plan is to return on Thursday, provision on Friday and set sail for the Gulf of Fonseca on Saturday (only should be 8-9 hrs away). We are very anxious about resuming our trek and hopefully having a few less tiny no-seums and mosquitos as we get closer to the open water. Will write more when we return from the ruins and as I get back into the swing of taking pictures again!!!
