We Made IT!

12 June 2012 | Prickly Bay, Grenada
Dan
We have made it to our goal.
Prickly Bay Grenada, this will be our home for the hurricane season.
I'm quite happy to be here. We kept the best sailing part for the end. From Saint Martin to here Grenada we had the east wind on our beam. A 15 to 20 kts wind was just a nice breeze at that point of sail. It was a great way to sail and the runs were also short. Every time we stopped somewhere we would say will come back next year. The French Island where very nice. The whine and the rum was inexpensive. We had to rush a little bit because we wanted to be in Grenada for June first, we never had the chance to visit much but we just made it in time Next winter we will do it at a more leisure pace.

We also made some great friends along the way. I never taught I would speak so much French during this trip. We have met a lot people from Quebec that where keeping their boat on lake Champlain. That same group out of Montreal had a SSB radio network that gave us some help with the weather and kept track of the where about of a lot of boats.

The boat is also probably very happy to get here. It needs a bit of care. We have been getting some rain so the rust is no longer a problem. One of my first jobs here will still be to wax the S/S. I also found a diver that will come Friday and clean the bottom of the boat. Today we are having one of our neighbors doing some re-stitching on the bimini and the dodger. I would like to keep it (the dodger) for a while.

Since we are going to be here for six months and we had time during our travel to figure out what is working good and what need some improvement you can imagine the list of project is getting long. Well will do them one at a time and on island time
Today I will start working on the installation of a smart meter for the batteries and then will go from there.

Wish everyone as a good summer and the weather collaborates.
