Last Day on Florida's ICW
21 April 2011 | St. Augustine
Nancy and Ed
Got up early and pulled anchor at 6:30 am. We needed to make sure we could get through two of the four Daytona Bridges before the morning rush hour restricted their openings. No problem. We think something got wrapped around the prop; our speed is a little slow. Ed put the boat in reverse but that didn't work. Maybe it will work itself out so no diving. Engine running about 178 degrees...a little high for us but not out of spec.
Went thru the Knox Bridge on the ICW around 9:30 am; 20 statute miles to Matanzas Inlet. The inlet was uneventaul; shallowest we saw was 7.4 feet just below high tide.
Onward to St. Augustine mooring for tonight and tomorrow night.
Picked up mooring #47 at 3:30 pm
Note: St. Augustine Municipal mooring operation now has a launch!
We're planning to go offshore to Cumberland Island, Ga....a day hop to a wonderful park.
