after a five hour sail, and i do mean sail, jib and main, we found devil's cay. i always want to think there is something creepy abut a place with such a name. but there is nothing scarey here but my snoring!. our sailing speed was mainly 7-8 knots, but we did get up to 9 for a short time. it felt like flying. lily is not a big fan of the bouncing we sometimes do. she either lies down very close to me or sits by the captain's chair in the corner waiting for a reassuring pat from her captain. but boy does she like the on anchor, dinghy to the beach, swimming and digging in the sand part. she tires herself right on out.
two other boats came up from great harbour with us, madame and aviator. i didn't get to know them too well at the marina, but mart talked a lot of fishing with them. i guess they do it often and are quite successful. paula and normand, on madame caught a big snapper for their dinner tonight. we, on the other hand , are having grilled pork chops.
mart, lily and i spent about 3 hours on a very small beach today. we went over last evening too and found 5 beach chairs. most actually had all the straps. here, again, my imagination goes wild...friends gathering on an isolated beach to have a beer and a joint? or a place to sit comfortably while waiting in the dark for the boat to drop the drugs? just thinking...anyway, the three of us went for a lovely beachcombing walk at low tide. in my life i have never found even one sand dollar. today they were everywhere. the flat ones, but also the puffy ones, scientific term, which we just looked at and returned to the water. there were lots of conchs, big fat, juicey ones. we left them to their lives as well. it was very fun. paula and normand just dinghied by to in fivite us to aviator for a drink. i hope duane and christine know! better go primp...
