The Mona Passage and PR

We finally made it to Puerto Rico. This might not mean much to many of you, but those who sail will know the importance. We arrived in Punta Macao about 7:30am after a not too bad night traversing the coastline of the DR. There were all kinds of rules about how to do this, as stated by Bruce Van Sant, the alleged guru of the Mona passage. We hung out for the day, Marty swam, lily played on the beach and then about 5pm we raised the anchor for part II of the trip to PR. At least there were no rules this time, just make way across open water to the Mecca that awaited us...Boqueron. It really wasn't too horrible. We had good tunes playing all night which did wonders to keep me awake while in the captains chair. I sang a lot!
We arrived in Boqueron about noon. This small town is a weekend getaway for the people of PR. I guess the weekends are wild and loud, we will find out tonight. I'm ready for some salsa music! The water front is all small bars, some serve food, but not all. We went in for dinner last night to a place called Gallaways. It is known as the cruisers bar and we were told they served an excellent hamburger. It was pretty good and well within our meager budget...
Marty has been doing jobs on the boat, too numerous to list. After two nights of slamming into wind and waves, certain things loosen, chafe and just stop working altogether. He is an amazingly good sport about all that he has to do. I suppose I should quit complaining about the cooking and dishes I do...
Lily and I are hanging on the boat while Marty has gone ashore to find, hopefully, a part for the generator and some 1/2 & 1/2 for his coffee. Our plan is to hightail it out of here tomorrow. We are heading for Ponce in the hopes of doing a small reprovisioning at SAMs club and maybe have an rx transferred from CVS to Walgreens. Nice to be back on American soil if only for a few days.
