Waiting to say goodbye to 'Leesa Christina'

08 August 2013 | PREVEZA
una
We are at anchor right now in Vathi Bay, Preveza waiting for Robin and Douglas in 'Leesa Christina' to join us. He has decided to winter his boat here having just said farewell to Morven, Roshan, Digby and Nisha in Corfu so we have come here to meet up with them and spend a day or two with them.
'Leesa Christina' has been a great success for Robin and his family despite having to get a new engine in Reggio Di Calabria.
A wonderful holiday was had by all - the first of many we hope !

New to blogging

30 July 2013 | Tranquil Bay / Nidri - Greece
The weather is VERY hot here with very little wind.
As this cruising year has proved to be completely different from our usual I have decided to share our adventures with our friends. So far I haven't attempted anything like this apart from posting on FB so I am a bit nervous about starting.
Forgive me for any mistakes I may make !

Back on 'Capricorn' atlast.

08 July 2013 | Trizonia
Una.
As we arrived in Trizonia at midnight we anchored in the Bay so we didn't get to 'Capricorn' until 8th July - exactly 34 days since leaving her. She was exactly as we had left her with some notes from passing cruising friends who had called in at Trizonia in our absence.
It had been a real adventure covering 800 sailing miles from Elba to Trizonia.
Our grandchildren couldn't believe that we could possibly live aboard such a tiny yacht when they all clambered aboard !
It was lovely to have ‘Leesa Christina’ and the family with us for a few days in Trizonia.
After we have had some time here to wind down and relax we will link up again and sail in company with ‘Leesa Christina’ for a few days before the children have to go home for the start of school.

The last month has been an exciting one and well worth doing !

Mission accomplished

06 July 2013 | TRIZINIA
Una.
We set off early in the morning from Trevezia and motor sailed through the canal separating LEVKAS from the mainland and the Peloponnese and on through a maze of islands into the mouth of the Gulf of Corinth. There is now a bridge across the Gulf near Patras – THE RION – ANTIRION BRIDGE completed in 2004. It is the World’s longest multi-span, cable-stayed bridge, and indeed it looked awesome as we sailed under it at dusk.

Get ‘the oldies ‘back to their own boat!!!!!!!!

After leaving Gouvia Marina it was all steam ahead to get us back to our own boat in Trevezia !
Our first night at anchor was in Igoumenitsa Bay - very spectacular scenery but spoiled by the smell and polluted water caused by fish farms ! No swimming there.
We made up for this by anchoring next night in a small bay on Mavros Island near Moutros village. The swimming was just wonderful in clear blue water on a sandy beach.
No time to lose - we were off next day and sailed down to Preveza through the marked channel and anchored off the marinas there.
No swimming here and off again in the morning for our last day of sailing all together on 'Leesa Christina '.

CORFU AT LAST

02 July 2013 | GOUVIA MARINA CORFU.
una
Morven and their other two children had been in Corfu since 28th June. They were happy in a hotel on the beach but Robin was determined to get there as quickly as possible - and we sure did !
We left Reggio Di Calabria at 4.30 am on Sunday 30th June with the brand new engine humming away beautifully. We motor sailed a good bit of that day but once out into the Ionian Sea the going became very uncomfortable with choppy seas rolling us about and the prospect of a horrid night at sea ahead. Poor Roshan was seasick for the whole journey of 48 hrs. until at last we dropped anchor in a bay on the southernmost tip of Corfu.
After a deep sleep we were all up and ready for the short sail into Gouvia Marina where the young Berrys were re-united and ready for a summer holiday afloat on 'Leesa Christina'.

Extra: This year our son bought a 41 ft. Jeanneau Voyage sloop 'LEESA CHRISTINA' lying in Elba, Italy. Allan and I helped him crew her across to Greece.
