Happy New Year
Finally on the last day of the year we received our spare parts for our broken windlass and we could move again. We partied to the wee small hours on New Years at Nusa Island Retreat just opposite Kavieng with some locals and a big group from queensland and had good fun.
Anyway clever richie fitted the new spring and we were all good with the windlass. After a days R&R for the old hung over folk we set out for a few days explore of the islands around Kavieng. Its a cruising paradise and we didnt need to go far to Nusalomen before we anchored in 7 metres of crystal clear water off a sandy beach with a cute little wave off the corner of the bay which I just spent a couple of hours playing on the kayak, actually scary myself shitless far too close out of control over the reef,is more to the point...its been a long time since I kayaked in any waves and it took abit for the old girl to remember you lean back and keep paddling and when you have caught the wave still keep paddling idiot...anyway I managed to stay on top of the craft and escaped the wrath of the reef below....all good fun.
Paddling round the Bay is a nature lovers paradise, huge trees overhang the white sandy beach, birds of all kinds flying everywhere, fish flying and swimming all around, black tip reef sharks and plenty of turtles and coral all over.Yesterday we dived on the bommie in the middle of the bay and found two amazing lion fish and lots of other fishies.
