Unconditional Surrender
07 March 2017
On Sunday, after having decided to stay over an extra day, we did go back into town to take advantage of what most boaters crave, ice cream. Never pass up the opportunity. Afterward, we walked by the 30-foot recreation of the photograph showing a couple in New York celebrating the unconditional surrender of Japan near the end of World War II. Amidst the throngs of tourists and honking horns on a nearby street, Patty and I decided to recreate that memorable moment. Look carefully.
On Monday, we left the ball field just after 7:00 am for the seven to eight hour run to Cape Haze. There was a slight breeze at first but it started building and was a steady 20+ knots by noon with one gust to 29. The winds were southerly and we were quite comfortable in the cockpit, particularly with the side curtains down to keep the wind out. Cape Haze is a beautiful anchorage where we are often the only boat there. We will be here a few days before returning to Burnt Store.
