Brin de folie - from Mooney Bay, Lake Champlain

14 July 2016 | Hyde Park, Hudson River, NY
While we couldn’t raise them on the radio we both got very excited to pass each other on the Hudson, as Brin de folie is from our home marina. We learned later that day from Café Latté (also from Mooney Bay) after arriving at Catskills that they are off to Boston for a month. Once Café Latté gets its mast up here they will be off south – much farther than we went, directly to the Caribbean (their mast is higher and they they have a deep keel) from which they want to cross the Atlantic. Who knows? Maybe we can go further. I admit, when we hear about those who have sailed from Newport to Bermuda or crossed the Atlantic under benign conditions, they make it sound almost do-able and tempting.
