Arapesh is on the move...

10 September 2023 | East River Shipyard
Bob Kennell
Arapesh's bottom was given a pressure-wash before moving to its spot for the winter. We are so pleased with the state of its "bottom"! We will, however, need to replace the anode next spring.
That salt water!!!

We are grateful to Joe and George for helping with the installation of our cover (and to Hannah and Herm for having driven it down in our car).

Already we are prepping for next June in terms of what comes off the boat (thank you George and Lorrie for the offsite storage!), what stays, and what comes home with us. Our journey begins this week, via Vermont. Can't believe we made it here. It would not have happened without the help of so many family and friends. Stay tuned for Part II in 2024!

September 8th. We are coming out!

Pirate ships, icebreaking cruisers....

East River Shipyard has it all, everything from pirate ships (that's what I call them!), to ice-breaking cruisers and even two Open 60s for singlehanded ocean racing (look for the blue hull in the background of this photo). They dig a trench into the ground to accommodate the very long keel (10-12 feet?) and another for the rudder. Otherwise, it would be way too high up in the air!

It came in to be painted and was out within a day!

East River Shipyard can handle big boats, including halibut and herring fishing boats!

We have taken a mooring ball for tonight, beside the Mimi Jane, a schooner that we first encountered near Percé!

As we departed Mahone Bay, we came by a 132’ superyacht, Amara that sleeps 10 guests (14 crew) with a helicopter on its deck, and two tenders. Dutch-built, it is available for sale for the reduced price $17.9 million and will be available to see at the Palm Beach International Boat Show this fall!
